Before & Afters

Erica W.

Stuck in a rut of T-shirts and jeans, Erica needed a little help finding items that were fun, functional, and brought her happiness, both for work and for play. Plus, she needed a little guidance on how to put things together. I found that she had some nice bright tops in her closet, which speaks to her bright personality, but none were flattering to her shape. That and her layering options like jackets were also slim. So we shopped at Nordstrom and got her some great new pieces that helped give her the polish and shape she desired. Plus, they went great with items she already owned like her super cute leopard slip-ons! By the looks of the "After" photos she sent me, I'd say she's off to a fabulous running start styling herself :)

V.J.

V.J. is a savvy shopper who knows what she likes and has a great eye for detail. All she needed was a little help figuring out how to wear her pieces in new ways. I showed her some key layering tricks that worked specifically on proportion, like the cropped green vest- that piece actually pairs with the green dress in "Work Look", but she had never thought to break up the set before. We also incorporated layers into more work and dressy casual looks that work well in the Bay Area climate. The key to dynamic looks is layering and I wanted V.J. to see how easy it is to move a few pieces around to create completely new and interesting outfits.

Katherine B.

Katherine is a loyal J.Crew girl through and through and I love that about her because she's built a closet full of fun pieces that really speak to her "classic-with-a-twist" sense of style. We focused our time on working through how to take what she had and use it in new ways, as well as making sure to incorporate any "orphans" (items that still have the tags on) so that she could really maximize what she already owns. For her body type, we found a little extra definition of her waist was helpful since she has slim hips. Peplums and anything that defines her waist- or highlights her legs- will be the most flattering.
